A Ceará-based brand that belongs to the oldest family-owned company in Brazil invests in environmental preservation and technology to reduce the use of plastic
The oldest family-owned company in Brazil, founded in 1846 by the Portuguese Dario Telles de Menezes, the Telles group, from Ceará, has environmental practices as part of the explanation for its success over these 178 years. With seven companies in its portfolio, the company has the Naturágua brand, a mineral water bottling company, as one of the pillars of its actions related to environmental preservation, long before the consolidation of the ESG concept.“We have adopted this culture for many generations. We have a history of caring for ecological reserves, reusing products, circular economy and a lot of socio-environmental responsibility”, said Aline Telles Chaves, president of the Telles group.
Responsible for 15% of the group’s revenue, which reached R$768 million in 2023, Naturágua recently began operating with 100% photovoltaic energy produced at the solar plant in the municipality of Horizonte (CE), where it has a bottling unit. With investments of R$20 million, 10,000 new panels were installed in an area of 90,000 square meters, with a generation capacity of 5 megawatts (MW). This is the company’s third solar park, which together generates 15 MW. Click here and read the full article.
