The Federation of Industries of the State of Ceará (FIEC) held its annual Industry Day celebration on Thursday, the 9th, marked by the awarding of the Industrial Merit Medal. The award represents the highest distinction granted by FIEC. This year, FIEC president Ricardo Cavalcante will also be leading the awarding of the Industrial Merit Medal from the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
During his opening speech, Ricardo Cavalcante asked for a minute of silence in solidarity with all the victims of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul. The president of FIEC then praised the importance of Ceará’s industry, as strong, innovative and aware of its role in society, even in times of such intense transformation.
“An industry that contributes to raising our activism in relation to the future. We are a productive sector with greater capillarity in the socioeconomic fabric. The result of our creative effort and our capacity for work is present in all spaces where there is human interaction. From the first steps we take, all of our life experiences bear the mark of industry. We are present in food, education, health, leisure, clothing, in people’s daily lives”, he reinforces.
Ricardo highlights the hundreds of thousands of jobs generated by the manufacturing units in Ceará, contributing to the reduction of social and economic inequalities. He released data from the CNI, which shows that the sector is directly responsible for 21.2% of all formal jobs generated in Brazil, participates with 25.5% of the national GDP, contributes with 34.8% of federal tax collection and accounts for 66.6% of Brazil’s exports of goods and services.
“Industry accounts for 66.8% of all Brazilian corporate investment in research and development, and here in Ceará it is no different. The FIEC industry observatory shows us that the industrial sector in Ceará accounts for 20.5% of the state’s GDP. Our industry contributes 23% of all ICMS tax revenue and 84% of the state’s exports,” he celebrated.
Following the program, Ricardo Cavalcante introduced each of the honorees, highlighting their professionalism, human side and unceasing dedication to the development of Ceará’s industry. The honorees also took the opportunity to recognize the importance of the work developed by FIEC within the industrial sector.
